HCPS creates a community of learners that challenges and nurtures each child's individual strengths and gifts. It is our hope that STEM education will challenge students and help them to become both critical and innovative thinkers.
The very nature of STEM promotes 21st century skills and gives students the experiences that they need to tackle important issues in their daily lives.

STEM Academies
The HCPS STEM Academy program inspires and educates a diverse group of students by engaging them in authentic experiences in mathematics, science, and engineering that enlighten and motivate. Problem based learning is at the heart of the program. Students are encouraged to create and engineer in a variety of areas while becoming part of a rich 21st century learning community that uses technology confidently, works in groups effectively, communicates articulately, and embraces real world problem solving. Students learn in the classroom and in the field to develop confidence as they prepare to be researchers, innovators, engineers and leaders.

Integrative STEM Education uses the Technology and Engineering Design Process. For our elementary schools we have divided this into 4 easily recognizable parts.
Plan, Create, Check and Share.
Students move through the steps in an iterative process.
